Wheat Intolerance Symptoms

Symptoms of wheat intolerance can be mild, such as increased flatulence and abdominal pain, vomiting. There are several other wheat intolerance symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, eczema and other skin conditions associated with, to name a few. Some of these symptoms may be the reason you feel sick. The most common wheat intolerance symptoms include:

  • bloating,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • weight loss (or stunting in children)
  • fatigue.

Wheat intolerance is basically a bowel disease but in most of the cases bowel symptoms is limited or nonexistent. Some patients with symptoms of decreased absorption of nutrients, or more symptoms related to diagnosis, although statistically linked, have no clear connection with an intestinal disorder. Wheat Intolerance Symptoms in Children

Children 9 to 24 months, as a rule, have bowel symptoms and growth problems shortly after the first exposure to gluten content, and pyloric stenosis is sometimes a factor. Older children have more problems, there is poor absorption and socio-psychological problems in context, while adults usually have mal absorption problems. Many adults with subtle disease only have anemia and fatigue.

After eating foods containing or produced from wheat, around 15% have the reaction to gluten proteins of wheat. This reaction is usually has delayed appearance of 2 or 3 days, so it can be difficult to diagnose for physicians. Intolerance of wheat is one of several common food intolerance, but wheat intolerance is not contagious.

During the agricultural revolution about 10,000 years ago, wheat became very popular. In the early days of human life people were eating meat, fish, fruits, starchy vegetables etc. For this reason, the human digestive system has trouble digesting wheat or gluten. If we eat wheat or wheat food they produce a substance called zonulin that can allow toxins pass through the intestinal wall to enter our blood. This is often referred to as Leaky Gut Syndrome, and can cause many health problems.

When people say they are wheat intolerant, it really means to have a sensitivity to gluten. Most of the sensitivity to wheat gluten is in adults that are wheat sensitive and can be treated successfully with a gluten free diet. Recovery is usually impressive as people start feeling better than for many years.

Apart from the obvious improvement after gluten-free diet, people have been slowing down or even reverse the signs of aging with reduced wrinkles and improved tone and texture of the skin.
